Tampopo Kitchen is the brainchild of my wife, Nanae and me, Josh. As residents of Washington Heights for 15 years and after 5+ years of owning and operating Tampopo Ramen on 181st street, we wanted to expand the dining options that are available to the uptown community. Our mission is to bring the best quality Japanese ingredients to the format of takeout and delivery dining, which has become a big part of how we eat in NYC. We have created a high quality/premium option even when you are dining at home. 

We are importing and serving fresh premium Japanese fish such as bluefin tuna, amberjack and salmon and preparing the ingredients in a traditional way to the highest standard. Details that are often overlooked, such as the quality of short grain Japanese rice, seaweed and even custom blended soy sauce are details that go into every dish we make. We are also making the udon noodles from scratch every day to create the freshest, chewiest noodles going into every bowl. We believe these noodles deserve the accompaniment of the best ingredients whether it be premium Wagyu Beef, slow poached duck or a house blend of Tan Tan Pork. 

The fun thing about this menu is that sushi, in its origin of modern style sushi born in the Edo period, was actually meant as a takeaway food or snack.
