Mixing it up with our mixed up noodles

Chanpon Noodles is our newest special at Tampopo Kitchen! Chanpon means mixed up, and it traditionally has vegetables, seafood and meat all mixed together. The dish comes from the southern part of Japan, which is the prefecture of Nagasaki.

Nagasaki was the only port in Japan that was open for many years from 1639-1859 (about 200 years!) which is why there are diverse cultural influences, from their trading partners, being the Dutch and The Chinese. Fun fact, there is a large Dutch theme park in this region called Huis Ten Bosch, that I could write a whole book about but, today is about the noodles, let's just say, that place and my experiences there were pretty "mixed up"! Needless to say, even though there is cultural relevance to having a dutch theme park in southern Japan, it still feels very out of place.

Our Chanpon Noodles have chicken, cabbage, scallions, carrots, bean sprouts, shiitakes, and traditionally it has fish cakes, but we opted for imitation crab, which is a fun alternative!

I highly suggest you come try this seasonal special, and we are even offering a coupon just for the carbonara using coupon code LOVEUDON, take $3 off your order when you order the carbonara udon! (exp. 11/30/22)

Enjoy!
